Build Your First Mobile App in 2hrs — Flutter & Dart

Most Flutter books ask for a weekend before you see anything on screen. This one is built around a single session: install the toolchain, understand what Dart is actually doing, and ship a working app you can run on your own phone before you lose momentum. It is deliberately short. If you have already built Flutter apps in production, this is not for you — it is for the developer who keeps opening the docs, reading three pages, and closing the tab.

Who this is for

You have installed Flutter at least once. Maybe twice. Something failed, you moved on, and the folder is still sitting in your home directory. This book assumes exactly that starting point.

It is short on purpose. The goal is not to teach you Flutter — nothing teaches you Flutter in two hours — it is to get one app of yours running on one real phone, because that is the point where most people stop quitting.

The shape of it

A step-by-step guide to building a mobile app with Flutter and Dart, sized for one sitting rather than one weekend. Step-by-step means what it says: the path from nothing installed to something running, in order, without the detours.

It is short by design. Two hours buys you a working app and a feel for how Flutter thinks — not mastery. Anyone promising mastery in two hours is selling something else.

Questions

Do I need to know Dart before reading this?
No. The book introduces the Dart you need as you hit it, rather than front-loading a language tour you would forget before writing any UI.
Is two hours realistic?
For the build itself, yes, assuming a working internet connection for the initial toolchain download — that download is the slowest part and is not counted in the two hours.
Does it cover iOS as well as Android?
The project builds for both, but the walkthrough uses Android because it needs no paid developer account to run on a real device.
Is this available in paperback?
It is a Kindle ebook. You can read it in the free Kindle app on a phone, tablet or desktop browser without a Kindle device.
